Oyo Govt Takes Preventive Measures Against Infant Mortality



The Oyo state government says preventive measures have been put in place at ensuring that deaths of new born babies are totally eradicated in the state.

The Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Lanre Abbas disclosed this today in Ibadan while featuring on the BCOS News and Current Affairs daily live television programme; AM 120.

The Executive Secretary, who stated that primary health care services are free in all states and local government hospitals across the state called on parents and guardians to allow their children and wards receive measles vaccination which the state government will make available for children from nine months old to five years old.

A former state Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Damilola Lewis who also featured on today’s programme charged nursing mother and pregnant women to patronise qualified medical personnel, avoid dirty environment and endeavour to consume good food to reduce deaths of new born babies which the latest UNICEF report says is high in the country.
