9TH EDITION OF FIRST (Friendship, Inspirations, Relationship and Studies Talk)

Whoa! 'Tis the season to be jolly!!! It is with great gladness that I welcome you to another edition of FIRST. Thanks for joining us, I'm sure you will have a great time reading this edition, and it will be time invested, not just spent. It is 16 days to the end of 2017, and 2018 is knocking vigorously on the door. How prepared are you for 2018?

In this edition of FIRST, I'd love to address the issue of "New year resolutions", which I believe are goals people set to apply in their lives, in order to become better persons, but may end up being not achieved even within the space of 365 or 366 days as the case may be. But, first, let us ask ourselves, is it really important to have new year resolutions? Well, that depends. It is subject to people's opinion, in my own opinion, I believe they are quite important, but, working towards achieving these goals is as important as having these resolutions. Having new year resolutions is not a problem, it never has been, and I don't think it ever will be, but fulfilling all these resolutions by the end of the year is where the problem lies and I'd love to address this in my own little way, and I hope after you have gone through this edition of FIRST, you will be glad you did.

A NEW YEAR, A NEW RESOLUTION

Hurrah! We are about making it through 2017. I believe we all have had a nice time and still are even if we haven't gotten all we wanted, or better still, achieve all our expectations, well, it's not too late to fix them again into the new year's list if it is actually of great importance. Something I love so much is making resolutions at every point in my life. Not that you are supposed to make resolutions only during the beginning of a new year, but I see it as necessary at every point when one needs a change. I believe everyone has one or two things they'd love to change this coming year. In fact, I am one of them, and believe me, I have a very long list of resolutions to make. But, does that mean I get to achieve everything? Well, maybe or maybe not. I'm sure that people actually want to achieve the things they'd love to change about them or what concerns them this coming year. But, majority end up not making it. What went wrong?

Majority of the people always think that changes just come like that, they forget that it is a process and things get to change gradually. Why don't you get a piece of paper or a book or even a diary, and put down all the changes you wish to effect in 2018 and work towards achieving them? Though you might have not achieved a quarter of the things you have put down, even by the middle of the year, it doesn't mean you will not have achieved all by the end of the year. The most important thing is to try as much as possible to work towards achieving your plans. Stay by them, work with them, check the things that you have been able to achieve, congratulate yourself for achieving them, put more effort into achieving the rest of your resolutions and I can bet it with you that by the end of the year, there would be a change about a lot of things concerning you, especially with reference to the things you made a resolution about, because as at the end of the year, if you abide by the rules stated above, you must have achieved most, if not all of your resolutions.

Another important thing I have noticed is that a lot of people reserve their resolutions for the new year, well, it doesn't work that way. If you notice an area that needs a change, why don't you just include it in your list of new year resolutions even if you discover it at the middle of the year. It doesn't matter what time of the year you insert a resolution into your list, the most important thing is to see the change which comes with achieving it.

All in all, no matter how long your list of new year resolutions is, see to it that you are able to achieve most, if not all and this can be done only by working towards achieving them. So, also, no matter what period of the year you are in, you can always add in more resolutions, as long as they are going to help you become a better person. So, I hope that we all have the plans of becoming a better person in the year 2018, I'd love to inform you that, that is the best thing you can do for humanity. Improve and develop yourself and let the change that everyone is asking for begin with you.

Wishing you the very best and a merry Christmas and happy new year in advance. I'd love to receive your comments, questions, advice, ideas and every thing else you feel we should have. Please forward them to firstwithlolade@gmail.com or 09030993102.

Alonge Lolade Esther (Jesus'Baby1).
